The La Cascada Foods kitchen and partner farm

Our journey

It started with asmall kitchen anda simple idea.

La Cascada Foods began in a small Oakland kitchen with a handful of recipes and one guiding principle: make food the real way, with fresh ingredients, and sell it close to home. The first batches went to neighborhood stores. People came back for more. Then they brought friends.

That was the whole business plan — make something good, made fresh, and let it speak for itself.

Growth

One idea becamea full kitchen.

We never set out to be more than a small local maker. But the same approach that made the first products work — cook fresh, source locally, follow the seasons — turned out to apply to everything.

So the kitchen grew. Same rule throughout: if it couldn't be made fresh and made nearby, we didn't make it.

01

Cook fresh — not weeks ago, days ago.

02

Source locally — from farms close enough to matter.

03

Follow the seasons — because real food changes with the year.

Our commitments

We made some choices, and we stuck to them.

Growing tested what we believed. It would have been easier to extend shelf life, ship farther, and let the food sit longer. We decided not to.

We kept sourcing locally and cooking with the season, even when it meant our offerings changed throughout the year. We chose to deliver only to neighborhood stores, because short routes are what keep food genuinely fresh. And we started watching our shelves closely — pulling anything nearing its expiration and donating good food to local food banks, rather than letting it go to waste.

None of those were marketing decisions. They were just the kind of choices that let us look our customers, our growers, and our neighbors in the eye.

Today

Where we are now.

La Cascada Foods is a fresh prepared-food kitchen rooted in the Bay Area. We source from local growers, stock neighborhood stores across the region, and remain part of a cycle that stays close to home at every step — from the farms we buy from to the food banks we give back to.

We're still a local kitchen at heart. That's not something we plan to outgrow.
